Description

This cheerful soapstone bird is carved by hand with a rounded body, petite beak, raised wings and tail, and an incised squiggly pattern that gives the surface a lively, feather-like texture. The birds come in an assortment of bright colors, including warm and cool tones, while keeping the same playful design. One available color will be selected for you. Soapstone is a smooth metamorphic rock composed mainly of talc. In metaphysical traditions, it is commonly associated with calm, grounding, emotional balance, adaptability through change, and clear or creative thinking. Bird imagery adds symbolism of freedom, perspective, hope, and communication, making this carving a thoughtful accent for reflection or new beginnings. Each piece is made from locally quarried Kisii soapstone by a Kenyan fair-trade artisan cooperative whose work supports living wages, children's education, and an orphanage.
